Burton Engineering was proud to partner with Choate Construction to design the first ground-up hybrid shipping service center. Site improvements featured a 330,000 SF distribution facility, constructed on a 62-acre site with over 750 parking spaces and 600 dock/trailer positions. The site was balanced with 300,000 cubic yards of earthwork, three separate wet detention ponds, reinforced slopes, a stream crossing, public roadway, water main extension, and NCDOT road improvements. To meet an aggressive schedule, we coordinated with state and local municipalities to expedite the permitting process. This Smartpost represents a convergence of FedEx and USPS that offers customers a reduced shipping cost option while increasing efficiency for FedEx.
