PROJECT MANAGER

Burton is in search of a Project Manager to join our team. We look for staff that are passionate, motivated, sound communicators, good collaborators, organized, creative and dynamic.

Role:

This position involves executing traditional site civil design services that include, but are not limited to: utility design, utility coordination, stormwater design, site layout, earthwork, and sustainable practices. Tasks will also include preparation of profiles, cross sections, preparation of drainage studies and reports, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, technical specifications, and other design calculations. The individual chosen is required to have experience with regional permitting and entitlement processes. The selected candidate should have strong business development skills and client relationships in the Carolinas, will be able to coordinate and collaborate with other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients, and bring a willingness to mentor junior level staff.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • 6+ years of experience
  • Four-year college degree in civil engineering or landscape architecture from an accredited University
  • Licensure in the Carolinas is preferred
  • Experience with relevant software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, StormCAD, SiteOps, Word and Excel
  • Familiar with writing proposals
  • Collaborates with client to establish scope, fee, and schedule
  • Oversees budget and invoicing for multiple projects
  • Coordinates project team and maintain project schedule
  • Experience in project management, client relations, and project team collaboration
  • Strong communication skills and effective at multi-tasking

PROJECT DESIGNER

Role:

This position involves assisting Civil Engineers and Project Managers in analysis/due diligence, calculations, design, and drafting for site and land development projects. The chosen candidate will have a basic knowledge of engineering principals such as grading, stormwater best management practices, erosion control, and roadway and utility layout. Plan production and permit and utility submittals frequent this role.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • 3-7 years of experience
  • Four-year college degree in engineering from an accredited University; EI(T) preferred
  • Experience with relevant software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Hydraflow, StormCAD, SiteOps and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written abilities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient at time management

STAFF DESIGNER

Burton is in search of a Staff Designer to join our team. We look for staff that are passionate, motivated, sound communicators, good collaborators, organized, creative and dynamic.

Role:

This position involves assisting Project Engineers/Designers with the development of site civil construction documents as well as schematic and detailed technical drawings from sketches and concepts. The chosen candidate will aid in the design of utility infrastructure, mass grading, roadway design, and erosion control. Plan production and permit and utility submittals are critical to this role.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Four-year bachelor’s degree or two-year associate degree in Engineering Technology or AutoCAD Drafting
  • 1-5 years of land development work experience preferred, entry level considered
  • Experience with relevant software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, CAD Standards, and Excel
  • Willingness to learn, take direction and communicate effectively

PROJECT SURVEYOR

Burton is in search of a Project Surveyor to join our team. We look for staff that are passionate, motivated, sound communicators, good collaborators, organized, creative and dynamic.

Role:

This position will assist in performing calculations, drafting, research, and other associated duties with a minimum of supervision. Tasks also include assisting in the execution of boundary, ALTA, topographic, existing conditions, right-of-way, transmission line, transportation, construction, and other types of land surveys for public and private clients.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Associate degree or coursework in surveying/drafting is required
  • Surveyor Intern (SI) preferred
  • Experience with relevant software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and associated add-ons
  • Experience in maintenance, setup, and operations of field equipment to ensure efficient and accurate field data collection
  • Physically capable of working outdoors and on construction sites if required
  • Willing and able to travel for extended periods of time
  • Excellent verbal and written abilities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient at time management

SURVEY INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN

Burton is in search of a Survey Instrument Technician to join our team. We look for staff that are passionate, motivated, sound communicators, good collaborators, organized, creative and dynamic.

Role:

This position will work as a member of a survey crew performing boundary, ALTA, topographic, existing conditions, right-of-way, transmission line, transportation, construction, and other types of land surveys for public and private clients. Responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of survey equipment, taking field notes, data collection, performing calculations, and working with internal staff on projects. Tasks will also include reducing survey data and copying and filing data.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • 0-3 years of related experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or BA/BS is advantageous
  • Experience with data collection is preferred
  • Physically capable of working outdoors and on construction sites if required
  • Willing and able to travel for extended periods of time
  • Excellent verbal and written abilities
  • Strong organizational skills
